Help Fight AIDS in Africa

Twenty Wishes - By s'bas-chen
i wish, upon a star so bright.
i wish for happiness all around;
i wish for nights without a sound.
i wish for weeks, with days of eight;
i wish your smile would never fade.
i wish to plant an evergreen;
i wish to feature in magazines.
i wish for strength when i am weak;
i wish my sink will never leak.
i wish to see you soundly sleeping,
i wish to know of what you're dreaming,
i wish my promises never break;
i wish to get a chocolate cake.
i wish to see you nice and safe,
i wish to be your unwavering faith.
i wish to have a lot of money,
i wish to use it to buy a bunny.
i wish to go back 'til i was sixteen,
i wish i wasn't really eighteen.

Seriously, i need one.
NAPFA standard 2.4km run for Males aged 18 requires us to at least run the distance within 13 minutes and 20 seconds to pass.
Take that time, multiply it by 4.17 (10km divided by 2.4) and you have about 56 minutes. To run 10km. and this is just to PASS.
My average walking speed is 5.5km/h, which means i'll take almost 2 hours if i walked the whole distance. My target, however, is to complete 10km within 40 minutes, which means i have to complete 1 km every 4 minutes. It's gonna be a killer.
and i only have 2 months.

I can't feel my legs anymore.
jogged/ran a total of 4 times today, i think i covered approx 15 clicks
Intensive physical training is a must. i've allowed myself until mid-april to cover the full length of the mini-marathon. then after that i must at least cover up 15 clicks within one and a half hours. then i'll most probably have no problem running 10.
Other than running alot today, i also drew alot. and as you can see above, played 7HP alot too. I threw away the sonnet that i was working on few days before, cos after reviewing it again today, i felt that it was rather sucky. i'd better get back all my literature skills fast, so i can write a proper sonnet. Literature-flash-revision, here i come.
termite-rabbit.
Went out early in the morning twice to start training up, jogged about 5km in the morning, around 12-1 am, and around 7km in at 8-9 am. clocked an hour plus for the latter, bullshit timing. this is what you get for missing physical conditioning for a year plus, i was much better last time. If i want to get to the top few i better improve on distance AND timing.
My dad was reluctant to let me join at first. His reason? "you hadn't ran in ages, and suddenly you expect me to pay for your entrance fee to some mass-run at the other side of singapore??", so i counter argued "Pa, it's only twelve bucks, and i didn't want you to sponsor me, i'll pay you twelve bucks." then after that he said okay.

Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.
O no, it is an ever fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wand'ring barque,
Whose worth's unknown although his height be taken.
Love's not time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
- Shakespeare's Sonnet 116

the fifteenth of march
The one formerly known to us as Miss Melanie Lee, has united in Holy Matrimony with Mr. Darren Soh in Wesley Methodist Church on this day, and is now known as Mrs. Melanie Soh.
i bloody swear that what happened today was the most sweet and touching thing that ever happened luh. Maybe it was the whole wedding-in-a-chapel thing. Maybe it was the beautiful sight of two people in love with each other coming together, or maybe it was an eye irritation, but i cried a little during the exchange of vows. referring to my previous post about love, this is nature taking its course. Two people who truly loved each other were set free by the one who loved them, but fate has it that nature brought them back together, and now shall live happily ever after, 'til death they do part.
I guess this is gonna be the closest thing i'm ever gonna get to a marriage luh, excluding the future marriages of my siblings, where i'll be even closer, as family. Nature ain't kind to me, but i don't mind. If the path that was chosen for me is a lonely one, so be it. what can i do. and yes, i'm being a little emo here, but still, it was touching, to me, seeing two people that were meant to be, finally come together to spend the rest of their lives.
The groom, Darren, exchanged vows and wedding bands with Melanie, then he lifted Melanie's veil, and kissed her. Then he realised that the pastor hasn't said that he was allowed to kiss the bride. After the pastor announced to everyone that was there to witness. Then he kissed her again. LOL. And Melanie described us who were invited there as "a bunch of ravenous polytechnic students" to the pastor. and Nicholas went and said very loudly, "Yes, That's us". gawd, that's like the most embarassing thing ever. THEN we realised that three rows down, was another bunch of "ravenous polytechnic students", which i guess was also invited by Melanie.
For better, or for worse.

THANK YOUR GODS IT'S FRIDAY, I'M A FREE-THINKER
When we finally reached ikea, i was talking about the japanese suicide case that happen near my home when i was young. i walked pass a japanese lady when saying "THE JAPANESE MAN DIED".
went into ikea, headed straight to the boxes area. i measured the bloody bottles i was gonna put in, but couldn't find boxes of the right size, so i got a bloody huge one. that looked very rattan-ish. the cashier that attended to me had the word 'rou' in her name. steph was very amused by that. and i was amused at how the actress in the potrait (forgot her name again) looks like zhong qing.
after ikea, we took 33 all the way down to tiongbahru plaza. i SWEAR i have never gone to the place luh, it looked so alien to me. we bought the tickets for the 1610 movie, then went around to help me look for stuff to cushion the wine bottles, but to no avail. we went into the cinema bloody early luh, the lights were on, nothing was on the screen. we got seats infront of two girls luh, then i had to literally lie on my back cos i don't wanna block them luh.
then the most interesting thing happened. This middle-aged lady came into the cinema, sat on the seat infront of me. then she shifted to the row infront of her, but shifted back when someone came and told her that those seats were taken. then she moved to the last row on the right side, but was told the same thing, so she shifted back. through out the movie she shifted to various positions, including the third row from the front (i counted) and back infront of me. then she walked up to the exit behind us, then walked back down to the exit infront, and went out. after awhile she came back in from THAT exit, which was supposed to be ONE WAY ONLY. she sat back at the front few rows, then a cinema attendant went to the front and closed the door properly. after awhile the middle-aged lady got up and went out there again, but never came back in.
i swear, the old lady was more interesting than the movie luh, steph and i was laughing throughout, even at the not so cheerful parts. but the movie was interesting also. we got to crack ALOT of jokes, i remember something about all the ppl who were fierce being ENTJ or something, ahahaha. and we also laughed at qi yiwu's english. and that at one point, the word apart was written literally apart, as 'a part'. The sentence was something about missing you and being torn "a part", so we joked that some one was pulling out pieces of flesh from the person. something like that.
halfway through the movie, i received a WHOLE BLOODY LOT of PHONE CALLS. normally i only get one a day if i'm lucky luh, but i counted seven when i was watching the movie. steph got an sms from her mom telling her that her mom's chinese mcd friends were coming over, and when she reached home don't be afraid. AHAHAH. DONT BE AFRAID. sounds like the friends were like members of the triads or something. then when the movie ended she received another sms saying the triad weren;t going to the house anymore.
steph had to gome home before 1800, but it was already 1805 when we came out. so we had to go straight back home. at redhill station, steph stepped out of the mrt dunno for what, no one was alighting at all. then halfway through the trip, a business woman behind steph said "OHH I FORGET ABOUT YOOO" with a very funny accent. and we snickered alot because of that. i alighted at clementi after that, cos i gotta get stuff.
okay, nothing interesting already.

A Salute to the Soldiers in Middle-East

You take a warm shower to help you wake up.
He goes days or weeks without running water.
You complain of a 'headache', and call in sick.He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.

You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.
He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.

You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket.
He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.

You talk trash about your 'buddies' that aren't with you.
He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.

You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.
He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.

You complain about how hot it is.
He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.

You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.
He doesn't get to eat today.

Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.
He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean.

You go to the mall and get your hair redone.
He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.

You're angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.
He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months.

You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.

You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.
He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.

You roll your eyes as a baby cries.
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.

You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.

You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.
He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.

You see only what the media wants you to see.
He sees the broken bodies lying around him.

You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't.
He does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in danger.

You stay at home and watch TV.
He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat
.You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable.

Are You Screwed?

Love: What is it?

Throughout history, philosophy and religion had done the most speculation on the phenomenon that we call 'Love'. Then came the science of psychology, and with it, followed evolutionary sciences and biology, in the attempts of understanding and explaining the primary function of 'Love'. Recent studies in neuroscience indicated that as people fall in love, the brain consistently releases a certain set of chemicals which act similar to amphetamines, stimulating the brain's pleasure center and leading to side-effects such as an increased heart-rate and loss of appetite, and therefore explaining what we experience when we are attracted to someone.
But can science really explain Love?
*disclaimer: the following text that are about to follow may infuriate you, and if you are easily angered, please do not read on. From this point onwards, i do not take responsibility for destroying what used to have a great meaning in your life. Just skip all the way to the last paragraph if you wish to.
One thinks that love is the only true, pure emotion, but it actually isn't so. Love, is actually one of the most selfish emotions ever, but hiding behind it is an even greater meaning: our will to power! When you love someone, do you actually love the person, or love the feeling that he or she brings you? Those who're defensive might go "yes, i actually DO love my partner as a person", but, think deeper, and you might realise that, no matter how you argue, the second option still seems likely.
When you're looking at love from the same angle that i am, you'll see that love is where to mutually selfish people come together because they make each toher feel better. The same can be said for your love of things, you like them because of the feeling they bring when you use them, or when you see them. Underlying all love is our strive towards ownership and extend our power. Our love or social relationships is when people encounter similar efforts on the part of other bodies and ends by coming to an arrangement with those of them that are sufficiently related to it, and conspire together for that power.
When we say we love someone, we will usually think that we know whats best for him/her. Why? Because we want to impose ourselves onto them; our will to power likes it when someone listens to us, because its a sign that we are in control, that we are powerful. We only love things that does or say things that we like because it is an ego boost; and hate things that says or does things that make us feel bad, constantly avoiding them because they hurt our ego
We only make friends that agree with us, we say things that is acceptable inside our clique because we expect them to say something that is pleasing in return, to reaffirm our very existence for power. The same can be said when we do charity for the poor: We always expect a thank you in return, or expect them to smile and nod and treat us with respect. When they don't, we label them as rude, ungrateful.
Our inborn self-defense mechanism too, serves only to protect our powerful ego. Do you always find yourself putting blame on something else? That is the work of our self-defense mechanism. To deny our own inferiority, we tend to blame external factors for our frustrations, and never our own powerful ego.
up to this point i wish to clarify that all these are just what i wish to share with you people, and some of it isn't really in my context, but what i agree with. I do not wish to change them and risk changing the meaning that i want to put through, but i risk being labled as a plageurise-er. and i also have a sudden craving for egg rolls from a particular brand
True love, however, does exist. If you truly love something, you will not expect anything in return for your love. This is the true selfless, pure love. If you truely love someone, you will not try to intervene in their lives. True love is letting nature take its course.
If you truely love someone, set him/her/it free
I have no idea what i'm gonna do today. Life's exciting like this, you don't know what you're gonna do next, but it sucks when nothing interesting comes about.

I believe that, Respect is a Right and not a Privilege, that is to say, any living or non-living being or object, has a right to be Respected. Anyone and anything should be respected, just for being who or what they are, and that is the bare minimum of respect that i believe should be given to anyone, even if you do not know the person. If you fail to even give the opposite party that little amount of respect, then you have lost that base level of respect that was your birthright. My great-grandmother used to say to me before her passing, "su lang bo su din, su din, lan jiao bin", which means to say, you can lose to others in many ways, but lose their respect, then you're a cuntface/dickhead. When you lose that bare minimum of respect, then you're basically not even fit to be seen in broad daylight.
Bringing yesterday's incident into the topic: I understand that all of you who are jieyang's friends posted those comments to defend him, basically that's what i did to defend jonathan on jieyang's blog. If you stood in my shoes for a moment, you would have seen that what i did for jonathan was basically the same as what you did for jieyang,i believe we would always help our friends compared to an outsider, no matter right or wrong
I admit that the comments i made were rather mean, and i apologised to jieyang for the comments that i made, although the bottom line still stays. Jieyang, too, had said that he was sorry about what he commented on his blog, and we agreed not to bring up this matter between us anymore. This way, jieyang raised the respect that i had from him, away from that bare minimum, and i now i have a much higher level respect for him. After all, it was wrong of me to have butt in like this.
On the otherhand, those of you who had commented on my tagboard did not, your tags failing to show courage, but more importantly, showing much disrespect, not only to me but for some, to those who are studying in Republic Polytechnic.
I assure you that, in terms of I.Q, we who study in RP or other polytechnics, most definitely will not lose to you people who study in JCs
This is not a laughing matter. The misconception of polytechnic students being "lousier" than those who are in JC is prominent in middle-aged singaporeans, but i'm ashamed that you people, who are all around my age and are supposedly more open-minded, still think this way. Well, here's soimething for you to think about: there are people with scores that are around yours or even better, that choose to settle in a diploma course in the polytechnic of their choice, and in one case that i know of, even settled in ITE because he believes that ITE is the path he should take. Tell me now, do any of these people "lose" to you in terms of your results? i believe not. In fact, they might be much better, in a sense that they have already decided on their path in life
another tag that really pisses me off: do not act like who you aren't. no point hiding behind a screen and acting like a bloody ahbeng when you have no clue about how they actually are. comenmeetup, don't you even dare try and intimidate me, you have no idea what i've done or what i'm capable of.
i rest my case.
read the newspapers, nothing interesting (to me) was on it. i'm gonna continue my artwork, maybe find some interesting stuff to post at the same time...
pardon me for the incomplete sentences, not really awake right now
Tuesday, March 11, 2008
- i'm done spraypainting my artwork
- steph says that i'll never hit her highest blog reader count
- jieyang turns out to be aiming to work in the advertising industry too, like me
- i still can't look for lazy ways to earn money
- my paypal's running low
- i'm thinking of doing a new blogskin. again.
- added some lost links
- removing the tags that defile my tagboard, after all you regulars read them
- the invite is still open: want to settle anything with me, just ask
- my younger bro came back awhile in the evening and said i had a watermark on my arm
- this posting isnt really arranged, its just random
- i'm doing this because i'm bored
- i sprained my leg while practicing my kicks, which i haven't done in a long time
- just realised i forgot to practice the stances and the punches; palms i'm good enough already
- yeah, my ahgong taught me martial arts, i practice them. you got a problem?
there's a certain "sidelined student" that wishes to wage war with jonathan, and his blog postings can be found here. with an attitude like his, its no wonder he's 'sidelined'. He thinks there's something wrong with jonathan's blog being theubercoolguy, and he wants to talk about jonathan misunderstanding the facts
the 'certain aspects' that he discussed about are:
- jonathan being not cool or handsome
well, Mr. "sidelined student", who made YOU the authority on being cool or handsome? just by looking at your first point, we know that you're a major nit-picker, so if you can't find more concrete things to talk about, *quote* "you just suck" by saying that he is not cool or handsome
- according to him, the first point is based on the assumption that jonathan is comparing with normal people, and not losers that are despised all around
fine, then i guess you pretty much fit all aspects of being a 'loser'
- jonathan contorts his sentences to call the 'sidelined student' a hypocrite who offers extreme opinions
there's no need to contort any of my sentences: LOSER
the rest you people can read it yourself.
Apparently he has commented about my tags on his blog in his recent blog entry. To me, it doesn't seem like he's directing any against me, but if he is, then it just shows that he doesn't dare, or *quote again* fire without fuel, him being the fire and his balls being the fuel. he doesn't even realised that in his latest posting, he included a double-edged sword. quote:
"If you do not provoke/infuriate/irritate others with your behaviour, comments, or anything, people will just leave you alone. It's only when you are an idiot and do weird stuff, then people will comment."
well, i guess he's looking at a mirror right there, it seems to me he was talking about himself
MR. SIDELINED STUDENT, I CHALLENGE YOU
If you're unhappy about my posts, feel free to direct any comment to me in my cbox, STRAIGHT TO MY FACE, and not hide behind some facade that you carry around like a blanket
and if you wish to know the REAL reason why others call me "kohconut", please inform me and i might just show you
*edit: the war between jonathan and jieyang, also known as the sidelined student, has been brought away from the public and down to a personal level. i'm fine with him now, as long as he doesn't start anything.

i'm supposed to finish up my work that will be titled 'harbinger of chaos', but i'm running out of paint and sprays, so i better make sure i have enough. when it's done i'm gonna post a photo up here. Seriously, there isn't really anything interesting for me to do during the holidays except to draw and to paint, because i'm starting to get sick and tired of facing my computer screens for more than six hours a day
the bbq for the SIC/GIC/DIC people of chingay dream team '08 has been postponed to 22nd march. that's damn far away; it's only the 10th today... and steph's complaining about it being when school [excluding poly(s)] has reopened.. well, at least that gives you something to do til then, i'm starting to run out of ideas to entertain myself
nguh, there's nothing to blog about today. What be your nerd type?

sundays are house-cleaning days, and because my siblings aren't at home, that means i'm gonna have to do the whole set of household chores AGAIN.
List of things to do:
1) Tidy whole apartment
2) Vacuum whole apartment
3) Mop whole apartment
4) Wash toilet
5) Iron clothes
And i have to get ALL THIS done before 7, else i'm gonna be late for dinner, unless i can try to convince my parents to order some fast-food delivery
i better start now.
